Following a series of attacks on judicial infrastructure in late 2025, the Supreme Court administration announced today it will formally file police complaints against identified individuals involved in vandalizing courtrooms. This move follows a security audit showing damage to 14 district courts during the recent political unrest.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has finalized the security classification for 10,892 polling centers for the upcoming elections. Thousands of centers have been labeled “highly sensitive” due to potential criminal interference or political clashes, prompting the deployment of specialized “election police” starting February 10.

In a tragic case of domestic violence, 46-year-old Santta Bahadur Kumal was arrested this morning in Isma-2, Gulmi. Authorities report that Kumal, while under the influence of alcohol, allegedly murdered his three-month-old infant son, Subas, late Wednesday night.

Police intercepted a tractor (Na 7 Ta 350) in Hatuwagadhi-9, Bhojpur, uncovering 43 sacks containing approximately 500 kg of illegal marijuana. Nine people, including 29-year-old Rudra Bahadur Shrestha, were arrested during the Thursday morning raid.

Police have arrested Dharmendra Mahato and detained Manita Devi in connection with the brutal killing of 52-year-old Sumitra Devi and her 32-year-old son, Rameshwar Mandal. The victims were attacked with sharp weapons inside their home in Parwanipur Rural Municipality-1 early Wednesday morning.

A team from the Kathmandu District Police Range opened fire during an overnight operation in Mulpani to apprehend a gang involved in a series of violent robberies. The suspects allegedly trailed individuals at night to steal jewelry and cash; all 10 individuals are now in custody following the exchange.
