Indigenous Newar Groups Resist Kathmandu Road Expansion

Over 100 indigenous and local individuals have signed a memorandum opposing the criteria for road expansion in the Kathmandu Valley. They argue that the expansion is proceeding without the “free, prior, and informed consent” of the Newar community, violating rights guaranteed under the Local Autonomy Law.
