Health Insurance Board Bans Unjustified Referrals to Curb Costs

In a strict directive issued today, the Health Insurance Board has prohibited affiliated hospitals from referring patients to other facilities for services available locally. The move aims to cut unnecessary reimbursement claims and address the massive funding gap, as the board currently owes approximately Rs 10.5 billion to over 500 health facilities across Nepal.
